Fatty acids and a healthy diet plan

Contrary to a common belief, fat is necessary for our survival and it has to be included in a healthy diet plan. However, we should make a distinction between a kind of fat that helps us maintain health and a kind of fat that is actually dangerous for us. First of all, let"s focus on the second one. What kind of fat should you avoid? Well, omega-9 fats are extremely dangerous. Of course, a small amount of them is still necessary, but the general rule in our society is that we get too much of them. Meat is the main problem here, of course. Limit the amount of meat or give it up completely and you will see the difference almost immediately. Of course, an excess of omega-6 fatty acids is also undesirable. These acids have a pro-inflammatory effect, but this does not mean that you should exclude them from your diet. The key to a healthy diet plan is the right ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 acids. Research shows that the right ratio is between 1:1 and 1:6, whereas an average European"s diet is based on a 1:15 ratio! Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, they help rebuild body cells and have a marvellous effect on our nervous system. Fish, flaxseed and walnuts are excellent sources of omega-3 and they should be a part of every healthy diet plan.
