I live on one of those housing estates that were build around factories and mines through the years in our country. Their main goal was to keep the workers close to the particular factory so that they won^t have to travel to work anymore. I think that it is a great idea and there is nothing wrong about it. The main disadvantage of such places, though is a fact that buildings are too close to each other and it is hard to have some kind of privacy when you are living in a flat. You can hear what are your neighbors doing all the time or hear when someone opens the door, etc. It might be really frustrating sometimes, especially when you want to take a rest and relax for a minute or two. My estate is located near the factory of bathroom furniture. Almost every single man from our blocks has been working in this factory or is working there now. It is almost a tradition in the families that have been living hear for many years now and I don^t think that is going to change soon. After all, bathroom furniture is necessary and what is even more important it is selling well. There would be no point whatsoever in closing this factory. It would have tragic consequences for us, people living next to it, as well.
